A unique climate, special and elegant. The owner Elisa Lunardi wanted to choose personally every detail of her B&B, with taste and elegance. The focus is on the guests that can follow the workshop on cheese “Cagliando s’impara”, organized to understand how to operate the dairy world. Constant cheese tasting paired with wine and finger food are organized in honor of La Pecora Nera. For those who have Slow Tourism Passport there is a discount of 10% in non-holiday periods and excluding the month of August. As a tribute to clients, the owner of the property Elisa offers a welcome drink.


La pecora nera is located in the Village of Mazzolla in Volterra. The B&B is located in the tiny and picturesque old town that has 44 inhabitants. To frame the structure there are sweets badlands of Volterra and the natural reserve of Berignone forest. The rooms/suites are inspired by feminine world. Eva is the name of the room dedicated to the first woman, and is located on the ground floor. The original vault in Tuscan bricks and natural materials like stone, wood and musk characterizes the room. The bathroom has a whirlpool tub, shower and color therapy.
Frida (homonym artist Frida Kahlo) is the suite on the first floor, colorful and energetic. In the bathroom, there is a whirlpool tub, shower and color therapy. The third room is named Eleonora from Sardinian judge Eleonora D'Arborea. The original vault was repainted with blue haze that recalls the sky of Sardinia, the decor is luxurious and fresh. The suite is simple and elegant; the bathroom has a whirlpool tub, shower and color therapy.

At the B&B La Pecora Nera, breakfast is served as a buffet, sweet and salty. The foods offered are handmade with organic products. The wine list features local grapes and almost exclusively organic.

La Pecora Nera is located in a village in the hills from where it is possible to admire the Tuscan landscape. The country of Mazzolla, 350 meters above sea level, is located 7 km from the town of Volterra, and fits in the middle of a context of particular historical and natural value and is an integral part of the territory. Volterra is a town of Etruscan origin with a long history in which it is easy to find the traces and vestiges of the past walking in the old town. Tourists can admire the Piazza dei Priori, the Cathedral, the Medici Fortress, the Roman Theatre and the museums. Periodically there are pageants, exhibitions and theatrical performances.
The Val di Cecina it is extended down the hill with nature reserves, rivers and streams through the mines of Montecatini, shower heads and paths of geothermal of Larderello and Sasso Pisano, the beautiful mountain landscapes of Monteverdi Marittimo, to the sea. To visit nearby is San Gimignano.
