Tasting local delicacies is a valid motivation to go out for dinner in your own town. But it is also a good reason to organize a trip!
Restaurant owners interested in making their special dish known – authentic or original – can participate in Slow Tourism through a space dedicated to recipes made with traditional ingredients from a specific area or, in alternative, with totally original preparation.
With Slow Tourism it is possible to qualify a Restaurant through the promotion of its gastronomic uniqueness. It is therefore possible to raise interest amongst regular costumers, but also in tourists and travelers who are not from the area.
To receive the official recognition of Authentic or Original dish read the section “Share your plate”.
Three simple steps needs to be made to receive the recognition of Authentic or Original dish:
1. For the Authentic Dish, in addition to the recipe, it is necessary to define the ingredients with their production chain and the tradition. For the Original Dish it is necessary to specify the ingredients and the uniqueness and the history of how the plate was created.
2. Send an email to info@slowtourism-italia.org and specify the typology of the chosen plate served in the Restaurant. Restaurant owners will be contacted by the Slow Tourism staff that will support you to collect the information necessary for the creation of dedicated pages.
3. Pay the annual fee of 140€ + VAT.
If the restaurant prepares Authentic and Original dishes, it is possible to make both of them known. We will post online the created pages dedicated to the chosen dish and also information about the restaurant and the culinary activities carried out. All foreseen services will be activated. People in general and travelers in love with unique and creative food will be able to find in the chosen restaurant for their next gastronomic experience!
Authentic dish is distinguished by the use of geographically characterized products. Examples of restaurants that belong to this typology are Neapolitan restaurants in Milan or restaurants that prepare recipes typical of other regions. They are considered Authentic dishes as they are prepared with ingredients produced in a specific area and based on preset procedures.
Original dish is characterized by the uniqueness of the recipe, irrespective of the origins of the ingredients used. Restaurants that have an original dish can participate if they propose a new dish, created by the Chef, which is not available in other places.
1. Insertion in www.slowtourism-italia.org for a full year. Two promotional pages, one in Italian and the other in English, equipped with photo gallery, link to the restaurant website, and personalization based on the detailed description of the chosen dish. Additionally, if the Chef has access to online videos relevant to the chosen dish they will be linked and promoted in the website and through Slow Tourism social network.
2. Promotion through il Daily Slow. The dishes that characterize you the most will be recommended through posts written by bloggers, citizen journalists and the editorial staff of the il Daily Slow, when concerning the territory where the restaurant is located.
3. Being inserted in the Authentic Slow Tourism Guide. A collection of useful information and pictures to increase the visibility of those businesses which contribute to making tourism not only a sustainable experience, but an authentic one. The guide allows people who work in the sector (owners of B&B, hotels, farmhouses, associations of businesses engaged in the sector, restaurants) to differentiate and qualify themselves. 4. Interview with the Chef. The editorial staff of the il Daily Slow will interview the Chef who prepared the Dish. The interview will be shared and promoted trough our social networks.
5. Promotion of the menù. Every year the menu of the restaurant will be sent to all the tourism businesses in the area that do not offer restaurant service.
6. Authentic and Original dish. The Restaurant will receive a certification of authentic or original dish.
7. Continuous spreading of information through our social network and newsletter. We promote the Restaurant and the chosen dish through the Slow Tourism profile – Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest – and through the newsletter we send each month to our members.
