The farm business applies integrated pest control for the production of apples and does not use any chemicals or synthetic products for the production of saffron and other medical plants, as well as for vegetables. It also runs a teaching farm for small groups and families to rediscover nature, farm works, a healthy lifestyle and a balanced diet. Products produced by the farmhouse and those locally grown are shown to customers; the business is also a shop of the Italian Confederation of farmers (CIA). Events dedicated to the farm business such as cooking, pruning for saffron cultivation and the recognition of natural plants and herbs are organized. A discount of 30% is given to our guests for “bike rental” and a 10% discount on “mountain bike guided tours”.
The farmhouse cooperates with environmental sport centers that grant the farmhouse guests a 10% discount on their activities. French and English are the spoken foreign languages used to welcome guests.
The farmhouse is nestled in the valley floor of the Nera river, at the base of Coscerno mountain next to the fortified village of Castel San Felice with San Felice church and its namesake Benedictine Abbey. The farmhouse is the entrance to a territory of unique beauty, rich in history and culture. The farmhouse is an old building first built as a refuge for pilgrims where the owners also lived. It is comprised of a studio, two double rooms, and a room for breakfast and tastings also used to sell products. There is also a kitchen used as a laboratory. On the outside, there is a large space for relaxing a play area with a gazebo and a garden with aromatic and herbal healthcare products. Being a guest at the farmhouse means sharing farm life moments, local traditions and the culture of the territory though guided visits to the business, excursions and learning and tasting experiences.
The farmhouse produces jams with homegrown fruit and local products and natural herbs that are offered in the tastings. High quality local meat and cheese are offered as well.
Spoleto, Foligno, Assisi, Spello, Perugia, Lake Piediluco, the Sibillini mountains and regional parks are all closely located to the farmhouse. Of special interest and value is the Valnerina, a territory to taste and visit, to be walked through or to be seen by biking to discover incomparable natural beauty as well as local history, art and culture. From Norcia to Cascia with Saint Benedict and Rita down to the smallest of villages and the most modest of saints, a mystic atmosphere full of freedom permeates the air. Valnerina, with its rivers and creeks, rock walls and mountains is the ideal place for sports to be practiced in nature.
