Since 2008 photovoltaic panels have been installed and have been used to supply power to all the facility. The farmhouse has the Ecolabel certification, the european ecological label. The farmhouse has been certified as biological by the IMC, the Mediterranean Certification Institute and the owners grow animals in a natural state in the Landa Carsica; these animals belong to species at risk of extinction. This preservation area is within the Special Protection Area as indicated by the Europe Nature Network 2000. The owners are ready to organise Nordic-walking excursions; mountain-bike tours, rock climbing with alpine guides; sailing boat trips; visits to the local wineries followed by DOC (quality certified) local wine tasting. Upon request, in order to meet our clients' needs, the owners offer typical menu foods, as well as special dishes for vegetarian and for children.
The bio-farmhouse invites its guests to comfortable stays in apartments suitable for families, in the peaceful nature frame of the Rural Park of “Alture di Polazzo” upon the plateau Carso (114 mt. above the sea level), in a boundary area (12 Km) between the Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and Slovenia, and within few kilometres from the beaches of the Adriatic Sea (15 Km). The farmhouse is also located in the historical ground of the First World War, and in the natural area of the Europe Nature Network 2000. The eight apartments of the bio-farmhouse respect the sustainability and energy saving standards and are composed of double-bed bedrooms, bathrooms with shower cubicle, living rooms with double-bed couch, a fully equipped kitchenette (cooker, fridge, pans, cutlery etc.), satellite TV, terrace or portico and free car park. There is a green area which surrounds the apartments, where kids can play and guests can enjoy beautiful short or long walks and encounter many of the farmhouse's animals.
Typical products are at the disposal of our guests in the farmhouse's small living room so that they can prepare breakfast in the apartments.
In the proximity of the Bio-farmhouse, there are countless places to visit, from the coastline of High Adriatic Sea (such as Baia di Sistiana at 12 Km, Isola di Grado at 25 Km) to the castles of Friuli Venezia giulia (such as the Castello di Miramare, Castello Duino, Gorizia's Castle and so on). There are also the characteristic Carsic caves to visit (such as the Giant Grotta: the biggest tourist cavity in the world; the San Canziano Cave Park which is the Slovenian UNESCO heritage and the famous Caves of Postumia). There are also the historical towns of the Region which are worthwhile visiting, such as: Trieste, Udine, Palmanova as well as Aquileia and Cividale del Friul, which are UNESCO heritage centres. Only 100 Km away are Venece and Lubljiana, as well as the nearby Natural Reserves of the lakes of Doberdò and Pietrarossa. Also the island of Cona, the cliffs of Duino and the resurgence of Timavo are very famous.
