Energy saving and self-sufficiency are the watchwords of the farmouse La Fiorida.
The company has an auto-thermal energy only from renewable sources using only a boiler fueled by wood chips (sawmill waste) and benefits from the power of the largest photovoltaic plant in the Province of Sondrio.
In the Farmhouse is pay much attention to the welfare of animals bred. The cows are free stall and in 2013 was awarded the Certificate of Animal Welfare.
In the farm shop, it’s possible to buy local products and visit the educational farm, recognized by the Lombardy Region.
Upon arrival at the farmhouse, travellers with Slow Tourism Passport have a piece of cheese Valtellina Casera Dop as a welcome gift.
The Fiorida is surrounded by nature close to the Alps Orobiche and Retiche.
Located in Lower Valtellina, a few kilometers from Lake Como, came from a small farm. Since then it has extended comprising an area of 60 hectares complete with barn, crops, dairy, sausage factory, shop sales and the hospitality area with villas, the spa and two restaurants.
There are 29 rooms typically decorated in stone and larch wood.
Guests can choose between the two proposals Restaurants: The Présef which boasts 1 Michelin star for bringing creative and innovative dishes of the chef Gianni Tarabini and the Four Seasons where are offered traditional cuisine from Valtellina with local products such as meat, cheese, vegetables and fruit.
Many workshops and outdoor games offered to children within the educational farm, and opportunity for everyone to ride along the Path Valtellina, one of the longest bicycle routes of Valtellina.
The Fiorida offers guests a full breakfast buffet of pastries cooked by the pastry chef and local products.
For lunch and dinner the owners recommend their traditional menu at a price of 45€, water and coffee included.
Dedicated attention is reserved for celiac, children and vegetarian meals specially designed for them.
There are offered the best wines from the cellars of Valtellina and food produced on the farm, such as cheese and cold cuts.
La Fiorida is located just over an hour away from Milano, and a few km from Lake Como, a destination for sports activities including windsurfing, kite surfing and sailing.
The property is also close to the Swiss border. In less than 45 minutes guests can reach Tirano and take the Bernina Express for trips to Saint Moritz.
It is accessible from the side valleys, as Valgerola and Val Masino where it’s possible to walk along the mountain pastures, see the alpine lakes and sight see the local wildlife, including chamois and ibex. Do not miss the two historical centers of the towns of Morbegno and Chiavenna.
