Marisa and Alfonso,with their sons Riccardo and Gianluca assigned to the care of the farm, await their customers in the farm Farneto, near Bologna.
In the building it is possible to taste organic meat, truffles and mushrooms picked in the neighboring land.
The 175 animals on the farm let you produce milk and organic cheeses, including those from sheep and goats.
The cultivation of cereals, protein crops and fodder follow a biological method in accordance with EEC regulations 834/08 and 889/08. The company also adheres to the reg. EEC 1698/05 as regards agri-environment, measure 2f, action 2.
The meat from their livestock is sold directly to the customer, as well as other products produced internally.
The Farneto country house is on the top of a hill in the Bologna Apennines and during the winter there is snow.
The comfortable accommodations were renovated in 2013.
Customers can choose at Farneto between the apartment suite Viola (studio with mezzanine), the apartment Ortensia suite (two-room apartment with a loft), the apartment Anemone (two rooms on the first floor), the apartment Rosa (two rooms on the first floor), the Rose Tea room and Snowdrop. All have a private entrance from the outside.
A Farneto you can dine and buy farm produce.
The administration of food with local produce takes place in the restaurant from Thursday to Sunday.
Lunch is served only on Sundays.
Booking is compulsory to ensure the highest quality of food to customers.
The Bologna recipes are cooked with pasta, meat, bread and milk produced by the Montebugnoli and Galeotti families.
Among the offered dishes there are mini crescentine (a kind of bread) made with ricotta, homemade salami, Farneto’s roast beef , fresh or semi-matured cow cheese, farro salad as starters.
For the main courses one can choose between noodles with meat sauce, tortelloni with butter and sage or porcini and honey fungus and tortellini in broth.
Meat suggestions: meat grilled, Florentine fillet, mutton, meatballs, braised.
Desserts are: mozzarella, trifle, cake and meringues.
On the menu are offered local wines such as Sangiovese Farneto, Sangiovese DOC, sparkling Barbera, Chardonnay, bubbly Trebbiano.
Near Farneto guests can choose to do a variety of activities including going to the horse-riding center and guest-house for horses "Macchia Ranch", or playing golf at "Le Fonti" in Castel San Pietro Terme.
Another Health Village is 5 km away at Terme di Castel San Pietro.
While art lovers can go to the archaeological sites of Cava Orto Granara in Castel San Pietro Terme.
Not least the historic center of Bologna.
