The farmhouse cultivates 100 hectares of organic products certified by ICEA.
The fields, the gardens and the orchard are cultivated based on organic farming methods and biodynamic agriculture.
The animals (goats, sheep, horses and pigs) are free to pasture. The wood is managed based on the principles of naturalistic forestry.
Energy self sufficiency is granted by two photovoltaic systems.
Life in the farm is closely connected to the cycles of Nature: a vacation at the farmhouse allows one to create a friendly relationship with the animals of the Anima Garden, going for walks in the Wizard Garden to discover the secretes of the woods to search strong emotion throughout “the itinerary among foliage” with harness and protective helmet.
Cooking lessons to learn how to make pasta with a rolling pin, how to cook bread in the wood oven and also courses on how to learn to shoe a horse with the traditional fire method are organized.
Also a course on how to bake clay in a hole in the ground to obtain colorful ceramics is offered.
The restaurant attached to the building offers delicious traditional dishes, combined with organic and local wines and artisanal beers.
Vegetarian and vegan menu, and gluten free products for celiac are all available.
The organic farmhouse la Cerqua is located in the Pietralunga Forest, located in the top part of the Umbria Region, 650 meters above sea level with a panoramic view on the valley of Carpina.
Part of the farmhouse has two raised floors of the former monastery of San Salvatore, built in the XIV century and perfectly restored by maintaining intact its 3 levels of stone, wood and cotto tiles.
The owners Silvana and Gino make at the disposal of their guests a common space to be used during the day with a dining room, a room for the fireplace, one for television, an area for music and an organic café with veranda.
Outside, there is a swimming pool in the shape of an acorn, an area for the barbecue, a field for archery, a riding stable and a teaching farm.
Breakfast at the farmhouse la Cerqua includes jams, honey, yogurt, cereals, fruit juices, cheese, cold cuts, milk, tea and coffee.
In addition to the jam, there are several homemade products amongst which cold cuts, bread, pasta, liquors, berries and white meat.
Lunch includes first and second courses, and a side dish.
The cost is 17€ per person.
For dinner appetizers, first and second courses, a side dish and dessert are served for 23€ per person.
Colli Altotiberini, Montefalco and Grechetto re the offered wines.
Pietralunga, Montone, Gubbio, Città di Castello, Perugia, Assisi, Urbino and Cortona are easy to reach for a one-day trip.
As sea destinations Fano is 80 km away. For mountain hikers are the nearby Appennines Umbro Marchigiano, with Nerone Mountain 25 km away.
For those who like to walk in green areas there is Pietralunfa Forest with its 2 oases that protect local fauna Varrea and Candeleto.
Not to miss is the Raccolta della Fauna Umbra at the museum of Candaleto.
Six charming bedrooms and two suites are available at the farmhouse la Cerqua: each one is identified by the name of a local tree.
All rooms have wooden beams on the ceilings, cotto tiles floor, niches and fire places, private bathrooms, heating and cable radio.
Moreover, there are 8 bedrooms with bathrooms and 2 studios.
40€ per person is the price for the B&B service during low season; 50€ is the price for the high season.
Breakfast, TV, internet access in the bedroom, wifi at the swimming pool, archery, access to the natural oasis to the Wizard Garden and guided walks are included in the price.
Not included: biking tour and horseback riding, courses to learn how to make pasta, bread, hazelnut cream and leaf peeping.
