Well Done
Canales farmhouse is about an extraordinary view of the lake, an oasis of serenity, where people find the typical Dorgali’s cuisine, clean and well furnished rooms, and the hospitality of Sardinians. The location overlooks the lake Cedrino, where guests can go for excursions in Kayak (rented farm directly), or by boat. Since its establishment the farmhouse has always worked to have the least possible environmental impact: the facility uses solar panels for heating water, and in 2014 it installed a system of photovoltaic panels of the latest generation. The farmhouse is made with materials perfectly integrated with the surrounding environment: basalt for external coverings, and wood for the floor and fixtures. A careful separation of waste for recycling, fulfills the commitment of the farm for an ecologically-environmental plan. The cuisine is traditional, with respect for seasonality, it uses mostly local products including those grown at the farm which originate unique dishes as the "frattau bread", and various types of traditional pasta such as ravioli and gulurgiones. The holders of Slow Tourism Passport are entitled to an aperitif as a welcome gift.
Canales is family run and lies in the agricultural land owned by Nieddu’s family. The facility is in the province of Nuoro, between Dorgali and Oliena, is only 13 km from the beaches of the Gulf of Orosei. The common room and the adjoining conservatory are bright and spacious, with panoramic views of the lake and nearby mountains. The rooms, located in the proximity of the central part of the farmhouse, are all equipped with private bathroom, air conditioning and, most of them also have a small private terrace. There are also 2 apartments with kitchen-living room, bedroom, bathroom and private veranda. The exterior is characterized by special attention to details to value the landscape and botanical native species. In the garden there are a small playground and a ping-pong table, available to guests.
Breakfast is mostly made with products grown at the farmhouse: milk, cottage cheese, cheese and goat yogurt are served. Cakes and cold cuts are also homemade. There are also seasonal fruits, juices of citrus fruits, homemade jams and different types of honey produced at the farm. The dinner menu usually includes a starter of cured meats served with vegetables; a first course of homemade pasta and meat or alternatively a vegetarian dish both accompanied by greens. A typical dessert or fruit, a digestive and coffee are also included. The menu varies according to the season and changes every night. Like most of the products brought to the table also the "Cannonau" wine is produced by the farmhouse. The restaurant service is only for guests who are staying at the farmhouse.
