Well Done
Abbey Sette Frati – Fratres farmhouse – is located inside a typical historical Umbrian building.
Annalisa, the owner of both the building and farmhouse, organizes for her guests many kinds of courses such as painting classes in the medicinal herb garden with watercolors run by an expert painter, classes on how to make soap, wool dyeing with herbs and massages done by an expert with extra virgin olive oil.
Interested guests can also participate in tastings of local products and extra virgin olive oil.
The owners make jams with their garden’s fruits which are offered for breakfast together with milk, biscuits, crisps, sweetened bread, fruit juices, homemade cakes, tea, coffee and water.
There are many wine producers are in the area: Casa dei Cini – Cantina Riccioni, Monte Vibiano e Conti Faina.
The famhouse is inside a former Benedictine abbey from the XII century which, starting in the XV century, became a country house for aristocratic families.
Amongst these was the Della Corgna family.
At the end of the XVI century the cardinal Fulvio Della Corgna ordered the realization of grotesque frescos in some rooms and for the apartment that today is reserved for guests.
These frescos are still clearly visible on the vaults of colonnade that face the cloister.
At the bottom of the Abbey the medicinal herb garden has been recreated with plants beloved by Benedictine monks.
An olive mill is located in the old refectory.
Oils, herbs, handmade paper and soaps are the products to be discovered by people who stay at the farmhouse.
At the moment there is one apartment for guests, for 2 or 4 people, located on the first floor of the Abbey.
It is very well lighted and faces the cloister and the medicinal herb garden, where is possible to pick herbs to cook meals in total autonomy.
It is comprised of a double bedroom, a living room with sofa bed for two people, a kitchen with fireplace and a kitchenette, a bathroom accessible going through an external 3-meter walkway.
Especially important is the furnishing in Occitan style of all the interiors: XVI century frescos are on the vaults.
A washing machine is in the bathroom, an iron and an ironing board, air drying and handmade soap produced at the farmhouse with olive oil and aromatic herbs.
Next to the apartment two rooms are available for relaxing, to read books and to surf the internet.
The owners are working to create bedrooms on the second floor.
